The Challenge
AgeCare is one of the leading national care home operators in Canada. After a recent rebrand exercise, they discovered their existing website no longer reflected the quality and prestige outlined in the new brand guidelines. Additionally, the website lacked essential modern accessibility features and the overall user experience was falling short.
With over 40 care home locations and a large volume of daily visitors—including prospective clients, current residents’ families, and staff—this WordPress website needed to handle complex functionality while maintaining strong performance and uptime. A seamless transition was critical to avoid disruption for existing users.
Solutions and Outcomes
To create a design that was both eye-catching from a distance and informative up close, I combined:
- Bold, vibrant colors to evoke energy and engagement.
- A mix of clean, modern typography with chunky, retro typefaces for contrast.
- A high-contrast, iconic silhouette as the focal point, set within a grid-based layout for structure and readability.
The final design successfully captured attention across campus, drawing students into the details of the event. The university’s communications team reported a notable increase in attendance compared to previous years, helping to foster greater awareness of the historical significance of MLK Day.
