The Challenge
As part of a multi-channel campaign to engage students and promote discussions around campus for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations, The University of New England invited me to design a visually striking poster to highlight key events and activities.
Solutions and Outcomes
To create a design that was both eye-catching from a distance and informative up close, I combined:
- Bold, vibrant colors to evoke energy and engagement.
- A mix of clean, modern typography with chunky, retro typefaces for contrast.
- A high-contrast, iconic silhouette as the focal point, set within a grid-based layout for structure and readability.
The final design successfully captured attention across campus, drawing students into the details of the event. The university’s communications team reported a notable increase in attendance compared to previous years, helping to foster greater awareness of the historical significance of MLK Day.
